December Quilting and Sewing Projects

This month, I have been sewing and quilting as much as possible. I started with Christmas pillows for the living room.

Pillows for the dining room.

Quilting and embroidered table runners.

Another Christmas quilted and embroidered tablerunner.

Extra squares from the panel were pieced together then embroidered and quilted for a wall hanging.

This week, I am trying to get three throws completed. These throws feature three different red truck panels. I have #1 done and can show you; hope to finish quilting #2 and I'm worried about finishing #3 in time.

Great, I finished #2 late last night.

Luckily, #3 is for me. It is hanging at the top of the stairs. It is unfinished and not quilted yet. Maybe later next week!

Happy quilting and sewing - Judy.

First Christmas Project of the Season

I've been wanting to try my hand at scanning and embroidering on printed fabric. Since it is my first attempt, I wasn't expecting perfection but would try my best.

I've only been embroidering a few months so this has really been a new learning experience for me. I started with a beautiful Christmas panel with several festive squares running across the panel.

I cut the panel apart and used three of the squares. I hope to improve as I keep attempting new projects!

Happy quilting, sewing, and embroidering - Judy!

Fall Foliage Throw

Since this is the last day of November, I thought I better share two more fall pieces I made this month.

The first project started with a panel by Timeless Treasures "Fall Foliage." Borders and flying geese were added followed by part of a border section from the collection. The pine cones
were cut from the border pieces and added to the throw.

The second project came from two parts of the border fabric sewn together then adding more of the pine cone border.

Both projects were quilted in the hoop using a pumpkin and leaf design from one of the Edge-to-Edge Quilting Expansion Packets.

Happy quilting - Judy.

Maple Leaf Wall Hanging

Several months ago,  I won some 5 inch squares from Jennifer over at Inquiring Quilter. I was thrilled to win these beautiful pieces from the Dear William Island Batik Collection.

Then I had to decide what to make!  Finally, I decided to make something with maple leaves.

Here's the finished product:

I did purchase some additional batiks for the borders and backing. I want to give a big "thank you" to Jennifer over @ Inquiring Quilter. I know I was terribly slow in completing my project, but I so appreciate Jennifer and her giveaway.

Lexington Sampler Challenge Quilt Finished

This quilt was certainly a work in progress for over a year.

I started it in July, 2018, as seen here, then had lots of starts and stops. Even put it aside for several months.

I love all the blocks, they are 15 inches and fun to sew.

I did vary the pattern a little by adding flying geese since I wanted a king size quilt.

 The backing for the quilt.

Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

Mystic Ocean Mermaid and Seahorse Quilt and An Update

I just finished up a colorful summer quilt. The digital panel by Mystic Ocean features a mermaid riding a huge seahorse.

The panel just needed borders, batting, and backing to get it ready for quilting.

Are you familiar with Edge to Edge Quilting? It is simply quilting in the hoop.

I used the bubble design in Extension Packet 6 of  Amelie Scott Designs. I love how a big bubble surrounds the mermaid's face.

Craft/Sewing Room Update: I've been working on moving my sewing machine and my embroidery machine upstairs to my craft room.

It has been a huge task. I've been selling most of my scrapbooking paper and lots of supplies to make room for my fabric stash. The storage containers below held lots of scrapbooking paper in the past. Most of the paper has now been sold and the containers are housing fabric.

Sewing and quilting have taken over scrapbooking the past few years for me so I am happy to transform the room. My husband mounted a pegboard to hang rulers, etc.

I'm working on a small pressing station on top of a cart. We used a piece of the leftover pegboard on top of the cart and plan to add a pressing cloth. I've got a small iron and "Terial Magic" ready to use.

I have lots still to do and more crafting items to sell but I'm happy with my progress. Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

Finishing Up a Patriotic Throw and A Class

I've been trying to finish up a throw for my daughter's birthday. I'm always drawn to patriotic pieces and thought this would be perfect on the back of her white couch.

The panel is " Colors of Freedom" by Wilmington Prints.

Wanting the panel larger for a throw, I added 15.5 blocks to the sides of the panel.

The repeating stripe from the fabric line made a quick wide border for the top and bottom of the quilt.

I had the top all pieced in time for her birthday on the 15th but didn't have it quilted. (Bad when you have to give a gift that isn't finished and need to bring it back home to finish it up).

I took a class at Calico Country in Paducah, KY, called "Edge to Edge Quilting on Your Embroidery Machine where you are quilting in the hoop. It was a fun class and I wanted to use this technique on this quilt.

The book is by Amelie Scott Designs and has several expansion packs.

Now that the quilting is done, I'm finishing up the binding today and should gift it again tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by - Judy.
