Garlic Knot Quilt

Our local Quilt Lovers of Murray group recently had a workshop for our members on the garlic knot quilt. One of our sweet guild members lead the class and gave a great demonstration on making the square. I decided to use some Batik fabrics that have been in a drawer for a while.

I turned the next 8.5 inch square so you can see it running another direction.

After I made several squares, I laid them in the same direction.

Then I laid them in circular type design.

What do you think? Which design do you like?

Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

Finished Patriotic Runner

It's done. Yay, I'm happy my project is finished and on the table.

I quilted the runner myself so it isn't perfect. I have only quilted a few pieces.

I love patriotic pieces and enjoy working with patriotic fabric.

Our porch is showing some patriotism too.

Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

Working on A Patriotic Runner

I'm working on a patriotic tablerunner for the 4th of July. I bought a fat quarter bundles of patriotic pieces of fabric.

Block 1 is complete.

You can see the pattern is all half square triangles except for the corner.

The pattern in a quilt pattern in the Summer V.4, Issue 3 of a Missouri Star Quilt Co. Block book.

I am just using one row of the quilt. I choose this pattern because it is a 10.5 block and will work well for me on a sofa table.

Blocks 2 and 3 are completed, too.

Now I have two more blocks to go. Hope to work on them this week.

On the crafty side, I revived an old spring wreath into a patriotic one. Added some vining geraniums and a patriotic bow and poof, it was ready to be hung on the door. The ribbon is from Michael's.

Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

Christmas Quilt Progress

I started this Christmas Quilt in January, 2018, but was undecided on what I wanted for borders.
The fabric is "Christmas in The Wildwood" by Nancy Mink for Wilmington Prints.

I loved the fabric but found I didn't want to cut the cardinals. While shopping at a fabric store in Paducah, KY, I saw a quilt where 10" squares were sewn together. So this is what I decided to do with the fabric.

I wasn't really happy with the top so decided to put the quilt top away for a few months until I could decide what I wanted for the borders. Luckily, I had bought two packages of strips and later decided to make a piano border. Strips were sewn together and cut in 13 inch sections for a wide border. I thought the border should be wide since the quilt is king size.

The border is sewn on and I am liking the quilt a lot more now.

I looked on Pinterest for ideas on the corner of the piano borders and found this idea.

I think the piano border really makes the quilt. Now it is off to the quilter. Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

Finishing Up My Wonky Star Quilt

I started on this wonky star quilt a year ago. (seen here)  I thought I was ready to add the borders but instead I just put it away. Something told me to wait.

Well, I finally got it out again and decided to make it larger. I wanted to make it a queen size quilt.  Ten more batik blocks were made and added over a few days.

I'm so glad I am making this quilt larger. After adding borders, the quilt top is done and ready to quilt.

I had an unwanted breakfast guest the last two mornings.

Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

Purple and Yellow Tablerunner is Done

My purple and yellow log cabin table runner was started a couple weeks ago. At that time, I shared the fabric and one completed block with you.

I am happy to give you an update with my completed runner. I folded the runner so you can see the backing; the backing fabric is the same green fabric used for the center square.

I used the Cross Hatch layout for the blocks. You can see the layout better with the runner on the table.

Here's the reason for my color choice of the purple and yellow fabrics. It's my Peggy Karr Glass plate that I recently purchased on a trip. I love the plate and knew I wanted to make a runner to sit it on.

The purple flower arrangement isn't new but was hiding in a storage tub in my garage.

There you have it, my purple and yellow table runner. Hope you can leave me a message and tell me what you think. Thanks for stopping by - Judy.
