A Christmas Throw

My nephew recently got married and I decided to make him and his sweet bride a wedding gift. Although it is a bit of an unusual wedding gift, I made them a Christmas throw.

His mom had told me they didn't have much time to decorate for Christmas because they were so busy working. I thought a throw would be easy to pull out of a box for some instant Christmas cheer.

Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

Christmas Bed Runner and A Wall Hanging

I have finished a couple of projects for Christmas over the last couple of weeks. Both projects were from the same fabrics so can be used together for the holidays.

The wall hanging has the trees staggered and stitched down. Snowflakes were embroidered and piping added. It is my first time to add piping to a project so there is lots of room for improvement.

The second project was a bed runner also using the trees pattern.

The pattern for the projects is from a Christmas Tree Table Runner by Ruth Nelson and can be purchased here

T blue fabrics were selected to coordinate with a Peggy Karr Glass 11 inch snowflake plate.

Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

Halloween 12 inch Quilt

Since I am not getting out as much these past few months, I decided to try some online quilting classes. There is always something to improve on in my quilting. The class I recently finished is Precision Piecing by Philippa Naylor.

Since I am a beginning quilter, I know I have lots to learn and Philippa is a fabulous teacher. Halloween fabrics were used for my project. Twelve inch quilts are fun to make; they allow you to finish pretty quickly and they are easy to display.

Hope you enjoy my project - Judy.

Witch Hat Applique and Embroidery

I'm getting ready for a Halloween Bunco Party at my house in just a couple of days. I wanted to make a hand-towel for the bathroom that would work for Halloween.

The project was fast and not too difficult. It is always a little tricky trimming around the fabric before the final satin stitch begins.

The dining room table is just about done for the party. I put together a spooky centerpiece that I can share. The tablescape will be posted on my other blog later this week. (Life in Kentucky)

I have snapped a few good pics of the pelican and gull migration on Kentucky Lake over the last few weeks that I hope you will enjoy.

Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

Jelly Snowflake Quilt & An Update

I started sewing along with the Jelly Snowflake Mystery Quilt at A Quilting Life last week. I am a little late joining the sew along but wanted to make a quilt for our local quilting bazaar in November. This sew along seemed perfect for me with just four different blocks to make (four of each block).
Here is the layout:

I have blocks one and two complete.

Block 1

Block 2

I'm hoping to work on Block 3 tomorrow. Wish me luck in getting caught up!

Block 3 Update: I had a great day and was able to get Block 3 pieces together.

With three blocks completed, I am able to lay them together and get a nice visual of the layout. I'm not sure on the direction of Block 2 in the layout, so this is a guess.

On to Block 4 tomorrow!

Blooms on my porch this week.

Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

Lake Life Bench Pillow

We have enjoyed boating on the lake all summer and to pay tribute to Kentucky Lake, I made a bench pillow.

Andover Fabrics Sail Away were used for the pillow.

Blooms in my gardens this week:

There you have it, my Kentucky Lake Bench Pillow. Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

Patriotic Throw Ready for Quilting

I am thankful that I have my patriotic throw pieced and ready for me to quilt. The borders and stars were sewn on tonight.

I hung it at the top of my stairs on the landing just to get these pics. My goal has been to have a seasonal quilt hung for each season. As you can see, I am really cutting it close with this one.

Hopefully, I can take it down tomorrow, make my sandwich and start quilting.

Blooms in my gardens this week

I love when my flowers are blooming, it makes me happy and brings me peace in these troubling times. Look closely at the purple coneflowers in the second row. There is a beautiful swallowtail butterfly doing his job.

I have noticed Japanese Beetles on some of my flowers and rose bushes the past few days. I have sprayed some of my flowers but want to let the pollinators work.

Thanks for stopping by - Judy.
