I saved some of the bark from our River Birch tree and have been stamping on it for this project. The bark is very delicate and fine, it is not a thick bark. Take a look at my hanging art piece.
Additional stamping was done on the larger piece of bark before the assembly of layers of the project. It was so delicate to work with but I am happy with the outcome.

I started with a piece a corrugated cardboard that I sprayed with several layers and colors of ink using the heat tool between layers. Paints and stains were also used on the cardboard. The bark was also sprayed with ink but very little Distress Ink was use since the bark was so delicate, I was afraid the bark would tear if I used a blending tool. The bird and branch were sprayed with ink then run through an embossing folder and dabbed with paint.
I used a die-cut on another small piece of bark after I had sprayed the piece with inks. Then I stamped on it and just hoped the stamping would show. I love the verse: It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see - Henry David Thoreau.

ReplyDeleteJudy...this is such a neat idea. I love that you've stamped on bark! And the corrugated paper that you've distressed and put behind it only adds to the bark's appeal. I also love that sentiment! How true is that?! Love the die cut bird, butterfly and flower, too! Nice job! Thanks for sharing your art with us at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. <3 Candy
