Tulips Along the Path Quilt

I have been working on this quilt most of March and April. It has taken much longer than I expected with so much applique. We have also been doing lots of yard work while staying safe at home in Kentucky. Sorry, I'm holding it a little lopsided and the wind was blowing.

The aqua strips are 2.5 inch and the white strips are 1.5 inch. The quilting is in the hoop from Extension Packet 5 by Amelie Scott Designs.

The quilt is now handing at the top of our stairs over the railing.

I did make three throw pillows in April out of a dogwood bloom fabric.

In addition to sewing and quilting during March and April, we have been working in the yard and completing outside projects. These projects include: adding stones around a large shade bed in the backyard, power washing the sidewalk and deck, painting the deck and lattice work, and working in the flower beds getting rid of weeds and adding new mulch.

I hope you are staying safe at home - Judy.

February Quilting Projects

Looks like February was a slow quilting month for me. I did finish the heart quilt that I started in January.

I only used two fabrics plus background fabric. The two fabrics were Batiks.

The heart quilt was hung at the top of the stairs on the landing and just in time for the Bunco Party. One of my quilting goals this year is to hang a new quilt on the railing each month.

I did have some interruptions during the month as I was planning and decorating for our monthly Bunco party that was at my house in February. You can see the party and treats in these two posts: Valentine Bunco Party and Treats for the Galentine Bunco Party. Really, February was a very fun month with lots of laughter with my bunco group. So I can't complain with only finishing one quilt this month.

Until next time, enjoy your sewing and quilting - Judy.

January Quilting Projects

I started a monthly calendar quilt class at our local sewing center this month. The monthly quilts are 20.5 x 28.5 in size. I finished the January snowman quilt at the beginning of the month. My plan is to use each of them as wall hangings throughout the year. These are basically fusible projects and takes a lot of time but I'm committed to the class so I'll hang in there.

Also this month, I finished a much bigger snowman quilt. This one is "Sweet Christmas" by Moda. The size is  about 60x72.

I have the quilt hanging at the top of my staircase. I plan to hang a new quilt on the railing each month of 2020. Hope that goal works out. I quilted it in the hoop and used a snowflake design.

The striped Moda fabric for the binding was fun. I think I really like using a striped fabric for binding now.

Near the end of January, our calendar quilt class completed the February heart project. Below is the one I completed.

I have a large heart throw that I am close to finishing but it will carry into February.

I'm hoping to get it quilted over the weekend.

Happy sewing and quilting - Judy.

December Quilting and Sewing Projects

This month, I have been sewing and quilting as much as possible. I started with Christmas pillows for the living room.

Pillows for the dining room.

Quilting and embroidered table runners.

Another Christmas quilted and embroidered tablerunner.

Extra squares from the panel were pieced together then embroidered and quilted for a wall hanging.

This week, I am trying to get three throws completed. These throws feature three different red truck panels. I have #1 done and can show you; hope to finish quilting #2 and I'm worried about finishing #3 in time.

Great, I finished #2 late last night.

Luckily, #3 is for me. It is hanging at the top of the stairs. It is unfinished and not quilted yet. Maybe later next week!

Happy quilting and sewing - Judy.

First Christmas Project of the Season

I've been wanting to try my hand at scanning and embroidering on printed fabric. Since it is my first attempt, I wasn't expecting perfection but would try my best.

I've only been embroidering a few months so this has really been a new learning experience for me. I started with a beautiful Christmas panel with several festive squares running across the panel.

I cut the panel apart and used three of the squares. I hope to improve as I keep attempting new projects!

Happy quilting, sewing, and embroidering - Judy!

Fall Foliage Throw

Since this is the last day of November, I thought I better share two more fall pieces I made this month.

The first project started with a panel by Timeless Treasures "Fall Foliage." Borders and flying geese were added followed by part of a border section from the collection. The pine cones
were cut from the border pieces and added to the throw.

The second project came from two parts of the border fabric sewn together then adding more of the pine cone border.

Both projects were quilted in the hoop using a pumpkin and leaf design from one of the Edge-to-Edge Quilting Expansion Packets.

Happy quilting - Judy.

Maple Leaf Wall Hanging

Several months ago,  I won some 5 inch squares from Jennifer over at Inquiring Quilter. I was thrilled to win these beautiful pieces from the Dear William Island Batik Collection.

Then I had to decide what to make!  Finally, I decided to make something with maple leaves.

Here's the finished product:

I did purchase some additional batiks for the borders and backing. I want to give a big "thank you" to Jennifer over @ Inquiring Quilter. I know I was terribly slow in completing my project, but I so appreciate Jennifer and her giveaway.
