Mystic Ocean Mermaid and Seahorse Quilt and An Update

I just finished up a colorful summer quilt. The digital panel by Mystic Ocean features a mermaid riding a huge seahorse.

The panel just needed borders, batting, and backing to get it ready for quilting.

Are you familiar with Edge to Edge Quilting? It is simply quilting in the hoop.

I used the bubble design in Extension Packet 6 of  Amelie Scott Designs. I love how a big bubble surrounds the mermaid's face.

Craft/Sewing Room Update: I've been working on moving my sewing machine and my embroidery machine upstairs to my craft room.

It has been a huge task. I've been selling most of my scrapbooking paper and lots of supplies to make room for my fabric stash. The storage containers below held lots of scrapbooking paper in the past. Most of the paper has now been sold and the containers are housing fabric.

Sewing and quilting have taken over scrapbooking the past few years for me so I am happy to transform the room. My husband mounted a pegboard to hang rulers, etc.

I'm working on a small pressing station on top of a cart. We used a piece of the leftover pegboard on top of the cart and plan to add a pressing cloth. I've got a small iron and "Terial Magic" ready to use.

I have lots still to do and more crafting items to sell but I'm happy with my progress. Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

  1. Judy - I have only picked up bits and pieces of knowledge about quilting from one of my sisters and a sister-in-law, and of course my many blogging friends who are quilters. But this "bubble" design is a new one for me. I think it is quite fitting for a scene "under the sea." Lovely!

As one who loves order, your sewing room looks quite organized and efficient - especially the peg board for your rulers. Cool! Thanks for returning to Mosaic Monday!

  3. I don't know much about quilting although my mom dabbled a bit when I was young. The mermaid is just stunning, especially with the bubble effect! I know whoever gets it will be so happy.

  19. Oh wow! Your sewing room is so organized. My husband and I just bought a house that has a closed in porch. One corner is an office for him. I have a table in another corner, but I haven't set it up for sewing yet. I suppose if I do that I will sew more!
