Garlic Knot Quilt

Our local Quilt Lovers of Murray group recently had a workshop for our members on the garlic knot quilt. One of our sweet guild members lead the class and gave a great demonstration on making the square. I decided to use some Batik fabrics that have been in a drawer for a while.

I turned the next 8.5 inch square so you can see it running another direction.

After I made several squares, I laid them in the same direction.

Then I laid them in circular type design.

What do you think? Which design do you like?

Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

  1. Your blocks are so lovely, the batik fabrics are perfect! My favorite way of laying blocks is in the barn raising design but off set in a corner (if that makes sense to you).

  2. Ooh, those blocks are wonderful but I honestly can't tell which one I like better. Somehow the knots don't show as much in the 2nd layout. However, they will look smashing any which way you set them. Well done!

  3. I really like this block! It looks fun to play with, and I think I like the ones going in the same direction.

  4. Gosh I love this! Not sure which layout I like best. Maybe number 2? Both are lovely. Thanks for linking up to Wednesday Wait Loss.

  6. What a neat block. I like the second layout. Interlocking squares are neat.

  7. They are both good layouts, but I think the squares makes it more interesting. Either way, it's going to be a beauty.
