CCC3 Challenge 21 - Rock Candy Distress Glitter

Let me say, I made myself get this project done in just one evening. Usually I spend a day or more on something but I am having a knee replacement on Thursday and, of course, I wanted to participate in the challenge. Don't think I even had a drink of water for hours but I'm taking one now.

Challenge 21 comes from p55 of Tim's book and you can still get a copy because you must work from the book. As always the curiosity team over at Linda Ledbetter's blog designs gorgeous projects for inspiration. I love reading their blogs and going through their techniques, you're never too old to learn something new. Thanks curiosity team!

I'm using colors that I don't generally use (except at Halloween). They are: dusty concord and shaded lilac. Now I am really happy I gave them a try.

It's a bit hard to get the rock candy distress glitter to shine in my photos. Here's another pic and maybe you can see a little glitz. Tim gives you step by step instructions in his book for the technique.

I added a headpiece on the woman by using one of the stamps from the Nature Walk set. I'll show you a pic so you get the idea. After some fussy cutting, it's now a headpiece! On her face, I used tattered rose; worn lipstick on her lips; and tumbled glass on the iris of her eye. Victorian velvet is on the eyelid.

The sentiment is stamped in Archival Jet Black ink.

After  I colored the background of the tag with shaded lilac, I  also put some of the dusty concord on my craft mat, spritzed it with water, then ran the edges of the tag through the ink letting it seep into the tag edges. Later I added some gathered twigs to the tag.

This challenged is sponsored by Joy and family at Inspiration Emporium and one lucky winner will get a $50 shopping spree.

Take care - Judy.

  2. Judy....beautifully done tag, girl. Love the purple background and I am not a purple person. :) I love how you used that classic face on this tag and how you colored her so beautifully. Your shabby bow at the top is also wonderful!! Good luck with the knee replacement surgery. I don't envy you having that surgery but I know you will be a good patient and do what the doctor says. Thanks for sharing your art with us at CC3C. <3 Candy

  3. Lovely, Judy! I love this classic face, really gets my creative juice flowing. Who is she? What is she thinking? Your headpiece for her is brilliant! Nice job on Tim's technique, really adds an accent to this piece without overwhelming it. Well done!
