For Our Thanksgiving Table and A Throw

With Thanksgiving in just a couple days, I have finished a few items for our table.

I found some Thanksgiving fabric that caught my eye. My favorite color is aqua for when I saw this fabric with fall colors and a touch of aqua, I knew it was for me. A few yards later, I had enough fabric for a couple of pillows and napkins.

I also found a batik fabric that I thought I could use in a table runner for the table along with some printed fall leaves. I kept the project as easy as possible since I was running short on time.

The leaves were printed on black fabric so I simple cut out a square around the leaves, added the Batik fabric, batting, backing, quilted the runner and sewed on the binding.

You can see my complete Thanksgiving Table here.

I also finished a Fall throw for the couch and a table topper. The throw wasn't complicated. It was a panel so I just with added borders, quilting, and binding.

The tabletopper turned out to be a bit more complicated. I didn't have a pattern so measurements for my cutting were a little more of a challenge. Anyway, it is done!

Happy Thanksgiving. Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

Halloween Bench Pillow

I finished my Halloween Bench Pillow and have it on display on my fireplace hearth.

The pillow is a kit by Kimberbell Designs. You can visit their site here

It was a fun project. Each piece is appliqued on the white background and then the pillow is quilted.

Thanks for stopping by. Happy quilting - Judy.

Charity Veteran's Quilt is Finished

I finished my charity Veteran's Quilt and turned in at our local quilt guide meeting. In November, all of these charity quilts for veterans will be delivered to our veterans in the nursing homes.

I used a panel for the project then added a blue border.

A piano border made from red, white and blue fabrics was added.

The quilt was quilted and a red border was added.

Halloween Quilt

When I was at our in-town retreat by our local quilt guild, one of the ladies was making a quilt from an Eleanor Burns book: "Quick Trip Quilts." She said it was quick and easy and that was right up my alley.

I wanted to make a small Halloween throw. So here is my finished quilt:

At our retreat, we also have a sale where members can sell fabric they haven't used or smaller pieces that were left over from other projects. I found Halloween fabric on one of the tables and thought I hit the jackpot.

The fabric is cut in strips, sewn together, then a tube is made.

The instructions are pretty easy to follow and tell you where to cut your tube to create the design. You make half of the quilt then make the other half.

Next you make the other half, sew the two halves together, add borders, quilt it, sew the binding and you are done. I did add a small decorative stitch on the border after I did the quilting. (just playing around with my new machine). The decorative stitch did take a lot of thread.

The quilt was fun and went pretty quickly.

Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

Halloween Table Runner

Our quilting guild holds an in-town retreat once a year where members can bring projects to work on and socialize with other members.

I worked on a Halloween tablerunner at the retreat.

I gathered fabrics pieces in my stash.

I started cutting pieces into five inch squares then cut some in half and stitched pieces together.

I fussy cut a few squares from an unused panel just to make the runner fun.

My plan was to cut the 5 inch squares in half, mix them up and sew them together. Some sewn squares would be turned horizontal and some would run vertical. I quickly learned this plan wouldn't work because the squares wouldn't be equal squares.

Luckily I hadn't cut all my squares so I had to cut more and make some pieces 2.75 inches and some 2.5. It took a little more time but I got it worked out.

I quilted with the serpentine stitch which was pretty quick and easy.

For fun and interested, I added a couple other stitches to the runner.

One Halloween project is done and I have another to be started soon. Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

The Garlic Knot Quilt is Finished

My garlic knot quilt is now in the finished category of my 2018 quilts.

I show you the garlic knot pieces I was working on.

Then I asked for your advice on which design to use with the blocks.

This . . .

or this . . .

I decided to go with the raised design.

I am thankful that my quilt is now finished and quilted. It's going to be a gift and is ready to go.

I used a purple Batik for a border plus for the backing.

Thanks for stopping by - Judy.
